English : An Explortory Study to Female Extension Agents Duties in Five Egyptian Governorates

Abstract This research aimed at identfying the present and expected duties of female extension workers in some Egyptian Governora¬tes .The research took into account their views in addtion to their superviors and experts views towards these duties. A random sample of 100 female extension worker and 37 extension admi¬nistrative supervisors was taken from Dakahlia, Gharbia, Kafer-Elshikh and Giza Governorates, the experts sample included 9 extension administrator from the central agrice. Extension admi¬nistration at least 15 years experience and 13 extension res¬earchers from different Egyptian Universties and agric. extension & rural development research institute. The data were collected in 1990,percentagee, arithmetic weighted mean and critical ratio were need in analysis of this data. The main results could be summarized as follows : I - There are eight present duties for female extension workers that include training and informing rural women in the fields of food processing technology, environmental non-food indust¬ries, family planning, public health, illiteracy removal, polutry production, office work and contributing in informing farmers of agric. recommendations he results revealed that there are significant differences between the female extension workers and their supervisors in three only of these eight duties. 2 - It was found that the future duties of those female workers from the three groups of respondents included the previously mentioned duties in addition to knowledge diffusion smote rural women in the fields of cattle husbandry, food processing and consumption, bee-husbandry, grain storage , silkworm husbandry, rural house management, poultry disease control, croploss minimization, childhood - motherhood and planning and carrying out rural women development programs. 3- It was found that the most preferred duties from female extension workers points of view were training and informig rural women in the fields of food processing technology and childhood-motherhood, while the least preferred ones were environmental non-food industries and cattel husbundry.
