Abstract |
The efficiency of the triple test cross (TTC) and the diallel biometrical analyses was compared in terms of assessing and quantifying the components of genetic variance; half diallel ( 8x8) and triple test cross for four crosses using for eight genetically diverse genotypes of sesame studied traits included days 50% flowering plant height, length of fruiting zone, capsule length, number of capsules/plant, seed yield/plant, 1000-seed weight and oil percentage. The results indicated that the diallel analysis gave informations about the genetic components (additive and dominance gene effects) only and it assumes the absence of non-allelic interaction, but the test cross provided valid and vigorous test for epistasis and have no restricted assumption. Such advantages enhanced the power of triple test cross in addition to its greater suitability to a random effect design that the diallel
