Abstract |
Two field experiment were conducted at Assiut Agricultural Research Station during the summer growing seasons of 2002 and 2003. This study aims to evaluate the response of peanut yield and its components for Giza5 and Giza6 cultivars to Rhizopium inoculation and some soil conditioners i.e filter mud cake and gypsum under sprinkler irrigation system. The results indicated that cultivation of Giza6 surpassed Giza5 in pod yield/plant, shelling %, seed index number of pods/plant and consequently pod yield/fed. The respective increases in pod yield of Giza6 amounted to 5.7 and 9.9% over Giza5 in both studied seasons (2002&2003), respectively. Seed inoculation with Rrhizopium before sowing resulted in significant increases in peanut yield & its component and N concentration in peanut shoots of the studied two varities. While, seed quality as manifested by seed protein &oil contents did Show any significant reaction in this respect at 5% level. N, P and K concentrations in peanut shoot as well as quality parameters significantly increased as a result of applying FMC as compared with gypsum. The relative increases in pod yield/fed. Were 9.4 and 6.0% in the two growing seasons. The increases of oil content were 6.2 and 6.3% in 2002 and 2003 seasons, respectively . The increases in protein content were 8.6 and 7.8% in both seasons, respectively. The interaction of inoculation x conditioner proved to be significant for N and P concentrations in the two growing seasons, K concentrations was not significantly affected .
Inoculation of peanut Giza6 in the presence of FMC as a soil conditioner led to improve crop yield and its components, and gave the maximum values of N, P and K concentrations in peanut shoots as well as oil% and protein contents .
