Abstract |
Twenty-four buffalo calves at 235.20 ± 1.023 Kg. average body weight were used to evaluating the effects of feeding animals on levels of protein and energy. Three groups of male calves (eight calves each) were fed on three-tested concentrate feed mixtures for 120 days at 'daily rate of 2.5 % of body weight with rice straw offered ad. Lib. Digestibility trials were conducted with three calves chosen randomly from each group. Results showed that CP and EE digestibilities, DCP value. total DCP intake were significantly higher for calf group (2) fed high protein concentrates than other rations. While calf group (3) fed high energy concentrates showed the highest OM and NFE digestibilities, TDN values, average daily gain, total DM and TDN intake, feed efficiency as Kg DM I Kg gain, economical efficiency and lower cost I Kg weight gain than other groups.
Under the circumstances of thesent study the results indicated that using high energy CFM in rations for fattening buffalo calves caused the highest daily gain and economical efficiency compared with high protein or commercial CFM.
