A Social Study For Getting Rid Of Farm and Home Remnants in Egyptian Rural Areas

Abstract |
This study aims to identify methods of getting rid of farm and home remnants in Egyptian rural areas, family individuals' perception for the wrong methods, the main reasons of practicing the wrong methods, their suggestions for avoiding them, and determining some social factors which affect family individuals' behavior of getting rid of remnants. For realizing these objec¬tives a questionnaire was designed and filled through personal interviews. Data were collected from a random sample of 578 rural family in Sharkia, Behera, Menuofia, Mania, and Suhag gover¬norates. "F" test and multiple correlation and regression (Step-Wise) were used to analyse the data.
The results of the study revealed that the main methods of getting rid of farm remnants were: Storage on house surface, using them as a fuel, feeding animals, and selling. While the main methods of getting rid of home remnants were: in canales, drains, and streets. On the other hand the study showed that 66 percent of family individuals perception for the wrong methods were low, and 59 percent of family individuals behavior of get¬ting rid of farm and home remnants were nonrational. The results also revealed that there were 4 independent variables which explained together shout 26 percent of dependent variable.
