Abstract |
Treatments were arranged to be one control and 6 groups representing 10, 20 and 30% levels of potato by-product meal (PBM) and sweet potato meal (SPM) respectively. The experimental rations were formulated to be iso-caloric, iso-nitrogenous and contained about 16.8 - 17.3% crude protein. Rabbits were stocked at rate one per cage and fed ad lib. Feed consumption was recorded daily according to the actual feed intake. Live weight of animals was measured and recorded weakly. The experimental period extended to ten weeks after start. Before the start of the experiment, a digestibility trail was conducted to determine digestible energy of the two tested feed stuffs (potato by-product meal and sweat potato meal). Before the end of the experiment, a digestibility trait was conducted to determine digestibility coefficient of the experimental ration nutrients, and nitrogen balance. At the end of the experiment random samples each composed of 3 animals representing different treatment were killed for evaluating carcass quality, chemical composition of the meat.
