Abstract A total number of 200 parent ducks and 600 day–old offspring from both Muscovey (foreign) and Sudani (local) breeds were used to evaluate some productive and reproductive traits under the Egyptian environmental conditions. A number of 20 drakes and 80 females at 12 weeks old from each breed were divided randomly into 20 pens. Pedigree eggs were collected and hatched. Day-old- ducklings were pedigreed and used as the offspring of next-generation. A total number of 300 ducklings from each Muscovey and Sudani breeds were divided randomly to 3 equal groups. During the growing period, body weight, body weight gain, feed consumption, mortality rat, body measurements, carcass quality and carcass composition were determined. During the laying period egg number, egg weight, egg quality, fertility and hatchability percentage was calculated. Also, blood constituents and immune response were determined. The results showed that: Body weight of Muscovey ducks was significantly heavier up to 20 weeks of age than Sudani ones. Muscovey birds consumed significantly 3.7% more feed during 0-12 weeks of age than Sudani ones. Feed conversion was significantly better from 0-12 weeks of age in Muscovey ducklings (3.29) than Sudani ones (4.41). However, mortality rate during 12 weeks of age was higher in Muscovey (5.33%) than Sudani (2.33%). Muscovey ducks produced about 8 eggs (25%) more egg number during 90 days production than Sudani ones. Muscovey eggs were increased in yolk weight, albumin weight, yolk% and albumin%. Muscovey eggs had more shape index and yolk index. However, Sudani eggs were superior in shell weight, shell%, yolk color and haugh units. There were no significant differences in fertility%, hatchability of fertile egg% or of egg set% between both breeds. The primary response (at 16 weeks) and secondary ones (at 20 weeks) against SRBC’s were significantly higher in Sudani (93.49 and 274.73) than in Muscovey ducks (64.21 and 236.46), respectively. This may indicate that Sudani breed had higher immunity responsiveness compared with Muscovey ducks.
