Abstract |
Forty Friesian bulls in Sakha Artificial Insemination Center.
Animal Production Research Institute. Ministry Of Agriculture, were used to produce 4160 semen ejaculates du0ring a period from January up to the end of December 2001 to study the effect of season age, and feeding system on methylene blue reduction time, ejaculate volume.
sperm concentration, semen output initial motility, live sperm and total abnormal sperms. Correlation coefficients between reduction color of meihylene blue dye and each of output, concentration, motility, and viability of sperms, were calculated.
Results obtained indicated that season of the year exerted a significant effect on methy.lene blue reduction time, ejaculate volume.
sperm concentration (XI06), spcnri otitput (XI09) live sperm % and percentage of abnormality. A shorter reduction time was observed during autumn. Semen quality during autumn was the best. Age of bull have a significant effect on methylene blue reduction time, sperm concentration.
initial motility. live sperm % and abnormal sperm %, the bull have 4 - 6 years of age had the best semen characteristics. Feeding system have also significant effects on methylene blue reduction time. ejaculate volume.
live sperm % and total abnormalities %. winter feeding resulted a good reduction time and the best semen characteristics. There are significant and negative correlation between methylene blue reduction time and both of sperm concentration (XI06). sperm output (XI09), initial motility % and live sperm %.
