Abstract |
This research work investigated the effect of some factors including forward speed, plowing depth and inflation pressure on draft requirements and tractor performance during plowing in sandy soil (Nubaria region). A rear mounted chisel plow 7 shares was used to perform plowing with four forward speeds (3, 4,5 and 6 km/h), three plowing depths (10, 15, 20 cm) and three inflation pressures (98, 108, 118 kPa). The results showed that forward speed, plowing depth, inflation pressure and their interactions have significant effect on draft requirements of mounted chisel plow. Multiple linear regression was performed to obtain equation predicting draft requirements of mounted chisel plow as a function of forward speed, plowing depth and inflation pressure. The coefficient of determination, R2, found to be 0.96.
Dynamic traction ratio and tractive efficiency were taken as parameters to represent tractor performance. Non-linear regression was performed to obtain equations predicting both dynamic traction ratio (DTR) and tractive efficiency (TE) from experimental data at three inflation pressures as follows:
Where S is rear wheel slip in decimal and the coefficients of determination, R2, were 0.98 and 0.96 at inflation pressure 118 kPa for dynamic traction ratio and tractive efficiency respectively.
