Abstract Two years of field trials were conducted in insmalia governorate to study mixture of nuclear polyhedrosis virus (NPV) + Dipel- 2x, and plant extract Nerium oleander applied against larvae of the cotton bollworm helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) in cotton filed. During two successive seasons 2003& 2004 data indicated that the efficacy of spinning disk spry application of mixture of nuclear polyhedrosis virus (NPV) + Dipel- 2x, and plant extract Nerium oleander applied by ultra low volume (ULV) sprays showed better control than the medium volume (MV) applied by mist blower. Sprayer performance assessed by bioassay of leaves sampled from spinning disk (ULV) and mist blower (MV) spray application plots. The results of leaf sample bioassays indicated that ULV application by a spinning disk sprayer showed better control than the MV application by a mist blower. The test compounds could be arranged discerningly according to the average effect (% reduction in infestation) as follows: mixture of NPV + Dipel- 2x, and plant extract Nerium oleander were the most effective compounds followed by mixture Dipel- 2x and NPV and the plant extract Nerium oleander respectively.
