Abstract A field experiment was conducted at Ismailia Agric. Res. Station, Egypt, representing sandy soil on summer season 2004 to study the effect of tafla application at rates of 0,10 and 20 ton/ fed on the yield of maize and its uptake of micronutrients. The methods of micronutrients application were soaked, basal and spray, while their levels were 30, 15 and 7.5 mg/kg for Fe, Mn and Zn, respectively. They were added in two different forms, i.e. mineral and chelated forms. The results showed that there were a marked increase grain yield (ton/fed), 1000 grain (g) and stover yield (ton/fed) of maize by tafla application, especially at 20 ton/fed. These increases were in the following order: Basal> Soaking> Spray. Micronutrients content, i.e. Fe, Mn and Zn (mg/kg) in grains and stover were markedly increased by application of tafla at 20 ton/fed. These increases were in the following order: Basal> Soaking> Spray. Application of micronutrients in chelating form were more effective for increasing maize yield and yield composition in the absence of tafla than in mineral form. On the other hand, opposite trend was also obtained in the presence of tafla
