Abstract |
The relative susceptibility of thirteen pepper varieties to infestation with the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus arabicus Attiah under natural field condition was evaluated during two successive summer seasons of 2000 and 2001 at Kalubia and Giza Governorates. Data showed that both groups of pepper, i.e., sweet pepper and hot pepper were subjected to infestation with mite moving stages in both localities but with different levels and sweet pepper varieties harbored higher numbers of mite moving stages than that of hot pepper. Among the tested seven sweet pepper varieties, Gedeon F1 and Pant F1 were the least infested varieties while Span Risestand Janet and Marcony were the highest infested and Magna F1, Maor and Polo Wonder were moderate. Regarding the hot pepper varieties, Kayenn Lang Slim and Elpaso varieties were the highest infested, Long Red Kayenn and Orly Improved were moderate, while Anaheim-M and Anahiem-T.M.R.23 became the least in their susceptibility to infestation with mite moving stages.
