English : Effect of some bio-organic amendments on a sequence cropping pattern of peanut-faba bean grown on a sandy soil

Abstract Two field experiments were carried out on a sequence cropping pattern peanut (Arachis hypogaea, Giza 5) as a summer crop followed by faba bean (Vieia faba, Giza2) of a winter crop grown on a sandy soil at Ismailia Agric. Sta. during the growng season of 2002/2003. The current study aimed to identify the role of HA as foliar application, AA and EM for improving seed yield and its quality with special reference to the nutritional status of peanut and faba bean plants. In general, faba bean seeds and protein contents responded markedly to all the tested treatments of both humic acid and amino acid either added individually or together with EM as compared to that observed for peanut. Also, data indicated that the individual treatment of EM was more effective than of AA or HA for both crops. Combination of humic acid or amino with EM was surpassed its individual effect for all the studied parameters in the case of two crops under study with a sportily for the combination of humic acid and EM. Owing to the nutrient uptake (N, P and K) or concentrations, the greater values were recorded in faba bean seeds than in straw. While, the concentration and uptake of nitrogen was greater in straw than that in peanut seeds, the reverse was trend for P. K-concentration and uptake were more or less equal in seed and foliage.
