Abstract |
The main objective of this research was to determine educational impact resulted from using an agricultural video film on mango farmers in Ismailia Governorate. Some affiliated objectives were determined: (1) to determine educational impact on knowledge acquired by mango farmers brought about the video film use; and (2) to identify relationship between the acquired educational impact and some personal-demographic characteristics of the research participants.
The research was conducted during the period November-December, 2004. The research sample was conducted of 105 mango farmers. A pre-tested written questionnaire was used for the research data collection, a pre¬test-post-test experimental design was used. Simple correlation coefficient, arithmetic mean, and t-test, were used in analyzing the accrued research data, in addition to percentage, and frequency tables.
The main research findings were as the following:
1-There was a significant educational impact (at 0.01 significance level) resulted from exposure of the research participants to the studied video film. There were significant differences between averages of the post¬test-pre-test scores, related to the studied operational items, in favor of the post-test scores. The studied agricultural operations were ranked, in a descending way, as: characteristics of the good transplant, advantage of heavy plantation, method of mango tree plantation operation, and plantation timing.
2-There was a significant relationship (at 0,01 significance level) and each of the independent variables: the respondent's age, and previous experiences. In addition, there was a significant relationship (at 0.05 significance level) and each of the independent variables: the respondent's obtained educational level, agricultural land ownership, and size of area cultivated with mango trees.
3-Three studied independent variables, combined together, interpreted about 27% of the total variance of educational impacts acquired by the research participants.
