The Present Study aimed at understanding the Production Situation of medicinal and aromatic plants and problems it faced . Solutions for these problem may be then suggested , and therefore production development of these plant may be achieved to meet local and foreign demand . The study states that coriander , warm seed , cumin , sweet Basil , marjoram and hibiscus are the most important medicinal and aromatic plants representing about 75% of total area and about 55.3% of total production of these plants during the period 1988-2002. The study a significant statistical annual increase of 109.2044.752 and 140 tons for cumin , sweet basil , marjoram and hibiscus Crop respectively, while production of coriander and worm seed have decreased by 68 and 95 tons respectively . Data of 100 farms in Fayoum governorate were analy sed , production and cost function were estimated .The results showed an increasing the return of warm seed , marjoram , sweet basil and caraway by about 1.04, 1.5 , 1.03 , 1.3 ,respectively . Cost function of worm seed , marjoram , sweet basil and caraway showed gave a positive elasticity less than one . Finally , the study stated the American , German, Dutch and British markets are the most importing markets of Egyptian medicinal and aromatic plant. _______________________________________________________________________________________________
