Abstract _______________________________________________________________________________________________ • Ph. D. in Agricultural Science: Department of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Monufia University, 2012. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ This study is performed to focuses on, (1) investigate the most important studies concerned with improvement of livestock economy and summarize the main results and conclusions of previous studies. (2) The current situation of animal feed production from different green fodder crops, such as alfalfa, dry and coarse fodder (hays and straws).(3)the different combinations of animal feed for dairy cattle such as (Friesian, cow, Buffalo) at different weights.(4) determine the most economic combination of feeds for the different dairy cattle. Quantitative economic analysis is used in this study to determine the most economic combination of feeds for Egyptian dairy cattle specially Friesian and cows. This study introduce the design of the mathematical model of linear programming for minimize the livestock feed costs (as objective function) to solve the problem of distributing the limiting feed resources (as restrictions or constraints) on different kinds of livestock. The study investigate the relationship between the animals needs of feed (daily diets) and the available fodder such as green feeds which contains high percentage of moisture and low percentage of dry materials and provide the animals with many kinds of vitamins and minerals such as(alfalfa, corn,…etc). in addition to study the formation of dry and coarse feeds from the agriculture wastes the dry and coarse feeds named (atban) consider as one of the most important parts of the animal feed due to it’s contains of low percentage of protein and moisture but this part of feeds is very necessary to animals due it’s large amount which should proportion with the large space of the animal stomach. these feed such as all kind of straws, hays….etc. the study also handle with the concentrated feeds industry, it has been found that the concentrated feeds consists of five main groups (1) curial crops such as corn, maize, sorghum, soybeans, barley, faba and bean.(2) the by-products of extracting oils industries such as all kinds of meal from cotton seeds , sunflower, soybean …etc (3) the by – product of milling cereals and rice . (4) The by – product of sugar factories such as molasses (5) concentrated animal by- products such as rumen, horn, hooves, liquid bile, blood and bone. The concentrated feeds contain high percentage of the main elements such as protein, fats and starch. While it contains low percentage of moisture and fibers beside the above the concentrated feed is very important to high lactation cattle and consider as an assisting factor for increase the production of milk, meat and fat .the study classify the milk livestock into two major groups the first is Friesian cattle (non-dairy, low milk lactation, and medium milk lactation) and the second are caws cattle (non – dairy milk lacing 4.5 k.g/Day, milk lasting 9 k.g /Day). Also the study classify the meat livestock into two groups, the first is calves or growing cows with weigh between 100 -500 k.g. (2) Friesian, mixture and buffalos with weigh between 100-600 k.g. lastly the study found out that it is more preferable and profitable to use the components of the optimum feeds for milk or meat livestock than to use the recommended feeds by the research institute of livestock. _______________________________________________________________________________________________
