Based on the importance of the role that cooperatives can play in the field of livestock development, the study aims to shed light on the current situation of animal production at the national level and Giza Governorate and the most important obstacles to the efficiency of the performance of cooperative societies in order to reach some directives that may benefit policy makers.
The study revealed the absence of horizontal and vertical integration between the units of the cooperative architecture. The financial analysis of livestock cooperatives at the Giza governorate level revealed the irregularity of many of them in preparing their annual budgets and handing them over to the competent administrative authority.
The field study showed that the problem of insufficient quantities of animal feed dispensed is one of the most important problems facing the cooperative breeder, followed by the failure of cooperatives to provide marketing services.
Thus, the ineffectiveness of the role of livestock cooperatives in achieving productive efficiency in the field of red meat and dairy production was found.
Therefore, domestic production of animal products should be increased in order to meet the increasing demand for them by improving cooperatives specialized in livestock development.
