Abstract _______________________________________________________________________________________________ • Ph. D. in Agricultural Science (Agricultural Economics): Department of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, 1993. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ The study aims to assess the efficiency of agricultural investment in Egypt, by studying the most important economic effects of implementing the agricultural investment policy during the period (from 1974 to 90/1991), and the effect of this policy on achieving agricultural development goals, and assessing the efficiency of the distribution of investment between different economic sectors, The study also aimed to clarify the relationship between investment and some economic variables influencing and affected by the investment policy, in addition to identifying the role of investment for economic development, clarifying the structure of these investments at the level of the agricultural sector, estimating the actual implementation rates for them at the level of various agricultural projects and companies, and identifying the most important The problems and obstacles facing these investments. To study the impact of economic policy and investment policy on development rates in Egypt, the time period (from 1974 to 90/1991) was divided into three phases according to the development of the investment policy. The first phase represents the stage of economic openness. The second phase represents the indicative planning phase, while the phase represents The third: the first four years of the second five-year plan. By studying the development of the total fixed investment during the three stages, it became clear that the average investments implemented in the agricultural sector were negligible, as was the increase in the total real value of the national and agricultural investments. The study used some criteria to evaluate the efficiency of the distribution of investments for each of the three study periods, which are the investment rate, the investment productivity factor, the capital turnover rate, the added value of the worker, the employment factor, the pound productivity factor, and the thesis dealt with studying the relationship between the distribution of investments and the most important variables and criteria Efficiency of investment, as it was found that the distribution of investments was not subject to precise economic criteria, which had the greatest impact on the decline in development rates, and thus on the Egyptian economy. The most important problems and obstacles facing agricultural investment projects are the agricultural sector suffers from diminishing agricultural land area, high risk factor, scarcity of local and foreign capital, lack of trained labor, high costs of raw materials and agricultural production requirements, in addition to fluctuations in exchange and interest rates that It led to the reluctance of foreign capital to invest in local projects, and the instability of laws and investment decisions. _______________________________________________________________________________________________
