Abstract |
In the last decade, the portable, pushed and self-propelled pollination and palm servicing machines were designed. The recent paper, however, deals with devicing an E. S. (Expert System) to include this machine as candidate in different Egyptian situations.
The recent paper adds pollination and palm servicing machines to the last module of existing E. S. (FARMEC by Awady et al., 1997) as part of harvesting system. The authors were taken as domain experts to evaluate and iterate the degrees of confidence set forth for the selection of different pollination and palm servicing machines in different situations.
The process of iterating results was carried out until its outcome conformed at the end with the experts opinion.
Three study cases were taken for testing the validity of results including: (1) real cases (uniform and wide planting): El Kasaseen (non-exist plants between trees), El Bosiely, and El Basionia (existing plants between trees) farms, and (2) Imposing cases: random and planting on the road and canal edges.
The final results of real cases showed the appropriateness of all machines (portable, self-propelled and pushed machines in uniform and wide palm planting which has not intercropping planting between trees in El Kasaseen farm. Whereas, the portable machine was the best in El Bosiely and El Basionia farms, due to existing intercropping plants between trees.
The final results of imposing cases showed the portable and pushed machines in random palm planting which has a small and medium size (0.5 - 5 fed) and where roads are narrow. However, in palm planting on the road and canal edges, the portable machine was the best one. The rules of the modified “FARMEC E. S.” are accepted for their logical results in different situations.
