| Abstract |
This Research is mainly intended to determine the role of local leaders of water users association board in branch canals of irrigation water rationalization, their attitudes towards this rationalization and the problems which minimize the leaders role in this regard.
A questionnaire was designed and used to collect data through personal interviews from 110 leaders. Percentages arithmetic mean, standard deviation and partial regression were used in analyzing and presenting data. The major findings could be summarized as follows:
- High knowledge about 64% of respondents concerning their roles in irrigation water rationalization.
- The significant effect of the variables of the experience in agricultural work, the leadership degree and number of years of formal education as independent variables on influencing the leaders knowledge about their roles in irrigation water rationalization as dependent variable.
- The majority of the respondents have positive attitudes towards irrigation water rationalization.
- There are some problems, which minimize the leaders roles of irrigation water rationalization. such as: absence of centers for doing essential maintainance of improved irrigation stations and damage of bridges of some irrigation canals.
