English : Effect of some strip-till methods on maize grain yield
Arabic : تأثير بعض طرق الحرث الشرائحي على إنتاج حبوب الأذرة الشامية
Abstract This study was carried out during 2002 and 2003 summer seasons at El-Gemmeza agricultural station, El-Garbia Governorate, to study the effect of some strip-till methods on maize grain yield comparing with the conventional tillage method. The mean values of the obtained results could be summarized in the case of operating the tested machines at forward speeds of 2.64, 3.80 and 5.18 Kn/h as follows: 4. The rotary strip-till: It was accompanied with field capacity of 1.57 fed/h, energy consumption of 108.00 MJ/fed, soil mean weight diameter of 30.40 mm, soil bulk density of 1.08 g/cm3, soil penetration resistance of 1.70 MPa, nutrients uptake by maize plants of 13.35 Kg N/ton grains, 5.23 Kg P/ton grains and 2.30 Kg K/ton grains, grain yield of 4.55 ton/fed and it saved net profit of 540.65 LE/fed. 5. The chisel strip-till: accomplished field capacity of 1.52 fed/h, energy consumption of 89.66 MJ/fed, soil mean weight diameter of 61.35 mm, soil bulk density of 1.10 g/cm3, soil penetration resistance of 1.73 MPa, nutrients uptake by maize plants of 12.29 Kg N/ton grains, 5.20 Kg P/ton grains and 2.21 Kg K/ton grains, grain yield of 4.38 ton/fed and it saved net profit of 532.63 LE/ton grains. 6. The conventional tillage: It was accompanied with field capacity of 0.93 fed/h, energy consumption of 255.60 MJ/fed, soil mean weight diameter of 27.10 mm, soil bulk density of 1.14 g/cm3, soil penetration resistance of 1.84 MPa, nutrients uptake by maize plants of 11.25 Kg N/ton grains, 5.00 Kg P/ton/ton grains and 2.13 Kg K/ton grains, grain yield of 4.19 ton/fed and it saved net profit of 505.46 LE/ton grains. Finally, it is recommended to use the strip-till as an alternative method to achieve higher maize grain yield and save more net profit.
