English : A comparative study for some treatments of extension message carried on vedio-tape
Arabic : دراسة مقارنة لبعض معاملات الرسالة الارشادية المحملة على شريط الفيديو
Abstract 1-Determining the educational effect of the visual speech treatment of extension message. 2-Determining the educational effect of the visual dialogue treatment of extension message. 3-Determining the educational effect of the visual discussion treatment of extension message. 4- Determining the difference between the educational effect of three studied treatments.5- Determining the relationship between the educational effect of the visual speech and each of the following variables of the respondents: age, educational status, citrus-planted area, exposure to mass media and information sources. 6-. 'Determining the relationship between the educational effect of the visual dialogue and each of the following variables of the respondents: age, educational status, citrus-planted, area, exposure to mass media and information sources. 7. Determining the relationship between the educational effect of the visual discussion and each of the following variables of the respondents: age, educational status, citrus-planted area, exposure to mass media and information sources. To fulfill the study objectives an experimental design was! used. Three versions of video-tapes were prepared containing.; the same information about the balanced fertilizing of citrus in different treatments: visual speech, visual dialogue and visual discussion. The study was conducted on a sample of 180 farmers cultivating citrus in Qalubia and Sharkia governorates. The sample was divided into three groups, each group watched one treatment from three treatments: visual speech, visual dialogue and visual discussion. The information of respondents about the balanced fertilizing citrus was tested before, and after watching a treatment of video-tape recording. Data were collected and tabulated and then analyzed using SPSS program. The statistical tools used were: frequencies, Standard Deviation, percentages, averages, F test, T test and simple correlation coefficient. The Results Of The Study: The results of the study could be summarized as follows: I. The treatment of the visual speech. * There was a significant difference between farmers knowledge before and after their exposure to the extension message treated in a visual speech. * The ratio of the visual speech knowledge effect reached 37.31% proving that such a treatment have an effective role in providing respondents with the information of balanced fertilizing of Citrus trees. II. The treatment of the visual dialogue: *There was a significant difference between fanners knowledge before and after their exposure to the extension message treated in a visual dialogue. *The ratio of the visual dialogue knowledge effect reached 34.79% proving that such a treatment have an effective role in providing respondents with the information of balanced fertilizing of Citrus trees. III. The treatment of the visual discussion: *There was a significant difference between farmers knowledge before and after their exposure to the extension message treated in a visual discussion. • The ratio of the visual discussion knowledge effect reached 36.10% proving that such a treatment have an effective role in providing respondents with the information of balanced fertilizing of Citrus trees. IV. The difference between educational effect of the three treatments: *There was no significant difference between the tree treatments studied and each of extension treatment either in the pretest or the posttest. V. The relationship between the three treatments and each of the dependant variables: *The study results showed that there was a significant and positive relationship at 0.01 level between the total knowledge effect of the three treatments and the respondents' educational status, and at 0.05 level with their planted area. *There was a significant and positive relationship at 0.05 level between the knowledge effect of the visual speech and each of the respondents' educational status and Citrus planted area. *There was also a significant and positive relationship at 0.01 level between the knowledge effect of both the visual dialogue and visual discussion and each of the respondents' educational status and Citrus planted area. * No significant relationship was detected between the individual or accumulative knowledge effect of the :treatments under study and other dependent variables 'which were respondent's: age, exposure to mass media and :information sources. VI. Respondents preferences for the elements of the three treatments: *No significant difference detected between respondents preferences for technical elements in the three treatments studied. * More than three quarters of the three treatments' respondents preferred that the host and his guests to be specialized in the discussion subject. They preferred also that well known farmers to the most audience to be among the guests. *Almost all respondents of the three treatments preferred that the subject should be of highly important to the audience, using the Arabic slang and impressive music in the forepart and closing. * Most respondents preferred a pure and clear voice, distributed light allover the scene and not concentrated on the speaker, using natural colors, scenes sequence should follow the timing of agricultural process and not its importance in production. * Preferred duration of a video tape was seen by the respondents of the three treatments to be 20 minutes.
