| Abstract |
Propolis (bee glue), one of the beehive products was chosen for its multiple biological activities to be topical therapeutic agent for rabbit mange (ear and body mange). The effect of propolis extract against both types of mites was investigated in vitro and vivo. In vitro, aquous propolis extract against Psoroptic mange showed lethal effect during 1.5-2 minutes, reaching to 90-100% mortality at 10% concentration. While, in vivo study the use of propolis ointment 10% for 3 successine days resulted in complete reduction of clinical lesions from the third day of treatment. Skin scrapings of treated parts after treatment were free from any stages of mite. Propolis extract was used in this study for first time against rabbit mange (Sarcoptic and Psoroptic
