Abstract |
Twenty four lactating Friesian cows fed on (1) 30% Egyptian clover EC + 10% rice straw (RS) + 60% concentrate mixture (CM); (2) 30% EC + 10% RS + 60% CM + 10 gm dried Baker's Yeast (DB' sY), (3) 20% EC + 20% RS + 60% CM, (4) 20% EC + 20% RS + 60% CM + 10 gm DB' sY, (5) 20% EC + 20% RS + 46% CM + 14% dried brewers' grains (DBG) or (6) 20% EC + 20% RS + 46% CM + 14% DBG + 10 gm DB' sY. Ration 2 had higher digestion Coefficients of DM, OM, CF and NFE, while ration 4 was higher in CP and EE digestibilities than the other rations. Ration 5 detected the lowest digestibilities value. Ration 2 was higher ( p < 0.05 ) in TDN and SV values than rations 3,4,5 and 6, while ration 4 showed the highest DCP value. Cows fed ration 2 showed the highest daily feed intake as DM, TDN or SV/ W 0.75 cows fed ration 3 consumed the lowest DM or SV/ W0.75 s fed ration 2 showed the highest milk yield and 4% FCM, while cows received ration 5 had the lowest milk yield and 4% FCM. Milk fat, Protein, lactose, total solids and solids not fat were the highest of cows fed ration 2 .
Cows fed ration 3 Showed the highest value of ruminal - N followed by those fed rations 4,1,2,5 and 6, respectively. The highest overall mean of
ruminal TVFA's were recorded for cows fed ration 2 followed by rations 4,1,6,3 and 5, respectively. No Significant differences among all animal in
the concentration of serum total protein.
Ration 2 had the lowest feed cost /4% kg FCM, while ration 5 Showed the highest one. Adding dried Baker's yeast ( 10 gm / head/ day) to different
rations slightly improved the feeding values, milk yield and Composition, feed efficiency and economic efficiency.
