Abstract |
Pharmacokinetics, efficacy and tissue residues of sulphadiazine (SDZ) were studied in Clarias gariepinus experimentally infected with Aeromonas hydrophila. Following experimental infection and appearance of clinical symptoms which were mostly signs of septicemia, fish were given sulphadiazine orally (100 mg/kg body weight).
The obtained results showed that sulphadiazine was effective for treatment of Aeromonas hydrophila infection in Clarias gariepinus Pharmacokinetic and statistical analysis were performed. The absorption half life (t 0. 5 el) were significantly shorter. Sulphadiazine was detected in tissues of healthy and infected fish after daily dosing of 100 mg/kg. body weight for five days.
