English : Bacteriological and pathological studies on dead in-shell quail farm lsmaila
Abstract A total of 970 unhatched quail eggs (600 dead in – shell, 370 infertile) collected from quail farms suffered from reduction in hatchability in lsmailia province. The samples were subjected to bacteriological, pathological examinations. Antibiotics sensitivity test some isolates were carried out and field treatment were done for both quail breeders and the incubated eggs and the hatchability % was recorded. The obtained results revealed that a total 804 (82.89%) were positive for bacteriological examination and 166 (17.11%) were negative. The isolates were highly sensitive to Enrofloxacin, Ciprofloxacin, Gentamycin and resistant to Erythromycin, Penecillin G., Doxycycline. The pathological lesions varied according to severity and type of infections. The most predominant isolates were E. coli (26.21% , 22%), Strep. Sp. (12.16%, 13%) Kl. pneumoniae (8.1%, 4.16%), Staph. aureus (7.02%, 8.66%),Staph. epidermidis (4.05% , 5.33%), Citrobacter Sp. (7.02%, 3.5%) pesudomonase aeregenosa (6.22%, 7%), Salmonella Sp. (6.22%, 8.5%), Proteus Sp. (4.6%, 3.5%) and Bacillus Sp. (0.0%, 3%) from infertile and dead- in shell embryos respectively. The highest hatchability% could be reached by treatment of breeder quail with Enrfloxacin (10 mg/ kg b.w) for 5 successive days in drinking water combined with pre incubation fumigation.
