			| Abstract |
The incidence of the fimbrial (pili) K99 antigen in Escherichia coli strains isolated from diarrhoeic newborn calves was studied. Faecal samples from 111 calves were cultured on minca Isovitalex agar plates. Suspected colonies were diagnosed serogically by slide agglutination test using diagnostic hyperimmune anti K99 sera. Escherichia coli isolates from 27 different 27 faecal samples were found harbouring the K99 antingen in an incidence of 24.3%
All positive strains showed typical biochemical reactions and sugar fermentations of Escherichia coli .
