English : Preparation and evaluation of mycoplasma gallisepticum bacterin

Abstract In a study to prepare and evaluate Mycoplasma gallisepticum bacterin, 101 samples were collected from Cairo, Giza Kaliobia and Dakahlia poultry farms. Two isolate out of 15 strains were identified as Mycoplasma gallisepticum using reference antisera. The more antigenical strain was used in preparation of two types of vaccines. The first was formalized oil adjuvant vaccine and the second was formalized aluminium hydroxide gel vaccine. These locally prepared vaccines were compared to the imported Nobi-Vac Mycoplasma gallisepticum vaccine. For evaluation of these vaccines, 540 chicks were vaccinated with one dose (0.5cc s/c) at 2 weeks of age. The duration of immunity was detected by serological response in duce in sera of birds after vaccination for 26 weeks. Vaccination efficiency of prepared vaccines was evaluated by detection of percentage of protection, body weight gain, isolation and quantitation of M gallisepticum from tracheae of chickens after challenge and potency of the vaccine
