Abstract |
This study aimed to determine the social and communicational characteris¬tics of the graduates local extensional leaders in new communities, Kafr El-Sheikh governorate and their roles in agricultural extension, also to determine their executive roles, and identify the suitable extension methods from which they get their information.
A questionnaire was prepared and used to collect data through personal interviews from 123 leaders. Percentages, means, weight mean degree, frequency distribution and standard deviation were used to analyze data.
The major findings could be summarized as follows :
- The leaders characteristics were 35 - 40 years old, the majority of leaders were middle graduates, had experiences in agricultural work for 12 years, the number of their families were 6 and over, their exposure to information resou¬rces was high, the degree of their communication among farmers was strong.
- 58.5% of leaders had high knowledge of their roles in agricultural extension.
- The leaders are executing the same roles in agricultural extension.
- The suitable methods for farmers were: farm visits, extension fields, extension meetings, and extension symposiums
