Abstract |
This study was carried out to: determine the knowledge level of agricultural extension agent regarding citrus leaf miner control, the relationship between the respondents knowledge level and some studied independent variables, and to conclude some indicators to be used in planning agricultural extension training programs.
Data were collected in November and December 2003 through a random sample of 360 extension agent by using a pretasted questionnaire. Chi square test, contingency coefficient was used to analyze.
Data statistically, in addition to frequencies and percentage the main result of the study revealed that:
•Knowledge level of respondent was low regarding different control methods of citrus leaf miner and their timing, diffidently of citrus leaf miner control, and reasons of not using chemical pesticides.
•Knowledge level of respondent was moderate regarding method of pesticide preparation, method of spraying upon trees, precaution of pesticides utilization, and bio-control and its advantages.
•Knowledge level of respondent was high regarding cause of nominating citrus leaf miner, harms of citrus leaf miner, indications of citrus leaf miner infestation, kind of used pesticides and rates and infestation time.
•Based on these results, eight recommendation were developed be used for establishing a training program for agricultural extension agents.
