| Abstract |
The strdy was carried out on a total of 6620 records for 2379 Churra dairy ewes. Genetic parameters were estimated and environmental effects were studied on milk yield, protein percentages and somatic cell cout through REML algorith with a repeatability animal model.
Conclusions:
Genetic selection to improve milk yield and protein percentages is not expected to have a correlated response on somatic cell count. Selection using standardized records permits more genetic response that test day records.
